Lisa Treleaven, LPC

Lisa Treleaven is a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Wellspring Counseling and Education.
Lisa Treleaven draws on both professional expertise and personal experience to serve her clients. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas since 2010 and has also worked as a homeschool educator, adjunct professor, and disability advocate. Lisa also brings lived experience as someone with chronic illness and as a mother of children with medical complexity, autism, and dual exceptionality.
Lisa holds a Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership in Mental Health and Human Services and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Houston Christian University. Her doctoral dissertation examined academic achievement in homeschools, and her master’s thesis explored sleep phenomena known as hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations.
Beyond her counseling practice, Lisa is an experienced disability advocate. She has served as an advisor on issues related to children with special healthcare needs to organizations including Texas Parent to Parent, Texas Children’s Hospital, PEDSnet, PCORnet, Project DOCC, Family-Led Academic Grand Rounds, Global Genes RARE Compassion, and Emergency Medical Services for Children. She is also an alumnus of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities’ Texas Partners in Policymaking program. In 2025, she was appointed to the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.

What is therapy like with Lisa?
“First, we will talk about what brings you to therapy and what has helped or not helped you in the past. We will discuss your preferences for counseling, your strengths, and how you communicate and learn best. Based on this ongoing conversation, we will create a treatment plan which may draw on tools from a variety of treatment types such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral (CBT), existential, Jungian psychology, interpersonal and social rhythm therapy, somatic-based interventions, and narrative therapy. At your request, faith-based counseling can also be included.”
